From a basement
to a rooftop.
The Hive Pastries started in the basement of Biashara Plaza, Thika Town: a small counter, a small oven, and orders written into a notebook. The cakes did the advertising. First the bakery took over a second space on the first floor, then it climbed all the way up: a rooftop branch on the third floor of Thika Bazaar, open air, that regulars just call the hivesroof.
The name isn’t decoration. A hive is many hands making one sweet thing: bakers, decorators, the person piping your grandmother’s name in perfect script at seven in the morning. That’s the whole idea, and it’s why the bee sits in the middle of the mark.
Cakes are the heart of it, but the café side keeps the hive humming too: yoghurt, milkshakes, ice cream and breakfast from KSh 150, every day until 8 pm.

Graduation week at the bakery. Every cake on this counter left with someone’s name on it.
What customers keep saying
People consistently mention that the cakes taste as good as they look: moist inside, not just decoration.
Regulars talk about collecting a cake the same week they ordered, with the name spelled right and the colours matching the photo they sent.
The rooftop keeps coming up: customers go for cake and stay for the view.
